My Comrade And Me
November 15, 2003
Met him on the football fields in 1966
Skin as tough as leather body strong as bricks
Everybody knew him it wasnt hard to see
The smile upon ol Jims face my comrade soon to be
Soon the songs of truth rang upon my friend
When he saw the right from wrong and light around the bend
Then he made the truth his own had some kids did he
Then became a family man my comrade soon to be
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
Learned to drive a diesel truck took care of the trees
He enjoyed a beer or two sometimes made it three
He became a confidant, a friend and devotee
We would hang out just like chums my comrade and me
His friends knew him as Bubba he liked to hit the road
Down south into Cumberland where that river flowed
Bubba liked the good times the life of the party
We use to do some trips ourselves my comrade and me
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
Bubba he got sick one day so young and in his prime
No one could believe it now it was his time
I will surely miss him when I get down on my knees
And think about the good times of my comrade and me
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
